Corey Roscoe
Ohio Campaign Coordinator
CoreyR@MercyForAnimals.org

Corey Roscoe serves as Mercy For Animals' Ohio Campaign Coordinator, organizing events and campaigns, and coordinating volunteers throughout Ohio.

Corey has worked for ten years in the nonprofit sector on behalf of animals. Holding a Masters of Arts in Education from Cleveland State University, Corey actively combines her passion for animals and education. She has extensively given humane education presentations, teaching children and adults how to think critically about their actions as they relate to animals.

She has also facilitated outreach events and trainings, coordinated volunteers, appeared on local television and radio, and managed web sites and social networks.

As an active volunteer, Corey has worked with many local and national animal and environmental protection organizations, including enthusiastically campaigning in California for the passage of Proposition 2. Proposition 2, titled Standards for Confining Farm Animals, appeared on the November 2008 ballot in California, where it passed with an overwhelming 63.5% of the vote. Prop 2 created a new state statute that prohibits the confinement of farm animals in a manner that does not allow them to turn around freely, lie down, stand up, and fully extend their limbs. While living in Los Angeles, she also helped coordinate Worldfest, a solar-powered celebration of music, the environment and animals, which included empowering speakers, environmental, humanitarian and animal protection non-profits, musicians and a delicious all-vegan food court.

Corey's path to animal protection began in high school when she was confronted with dissecting frogs in Biology class. After researching alternatives to the dissection of an animal in schools, Corey pleaded her case to her teacher. After hearing her arguments, Corey was given an appropriate alternative to dissection. Because of Corey, the teacher created a new policy to allow future students to choose between dissection and using a model in class.

Adopting a plant-based diet nearly 20 years ago, Corey's goal is to work within her community to promote awareness of vegan diets to help widen people's circles of compassion.
