On November 20, 2003 members of Mercy For Animals distributed dozens of free Tofurky sandwiches – a delicious soy-based meat alternative with a turkey-like texture and flavor – to Cincinnati’s hungry downtown lunch crowd. The event encouraged consumers to enjoy a cruelty-free vegetarian Thanksgiving. MFA’s Faunette was on hand airing undercover footage of turkeys being beaten to death, having their necks broken, and other standard abuses on factory farms.
