On April 15, 2005 members of Mercy For Animals, holding signs depicting an elephant shackled in chains that declared “Cruelty is Not Entertainment,” and “Abolish Animal Slavery, Boycott the Circus” urged attendees of the Aladdin Temple Shrine Circus to choose cruelty-free entertainment. The demonstration, held outside the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus, raised awareness to the routine confinement and violent training endured by animal imprisoned in the circus.
