Cow Jumps Six-Foot Fence in Attempt to Save Her Own Life

A cow destined for slaughter at Anderson Custom Pack, a meat-processing plant in Pocatello, Idaho, fought desperately for her life last Friday, jumping a six-foot fence in a brave attempt to escape being violently killed.

Running scared through the town, the terrified cow was eventually cornered and shot in the head by police. Except that didn’t kill her. Panicked and in pain, she continued to bolt through city streets until cops trapped her in the backyard of a house. There, a fatal shot was blasted into her head.

After the cow died, employees from Anderson loaded her body onto a truck and took her back to the meat-processing facility.

This shocking and devastating story demonstrates just how much farmed animals want to live. One can barely imagine the fear, confusion, and pain this cow must have experienced fighting for her life.

Farmed animals are just as sensitive and intelligent as the dogs and cats we love at home, yet they are treated as mere meat-producing machines on our nation’s factory farms.

If the story of this one cow in Pocatello moved you, think of the billions like her who are on the kill floor right now.

It doesn’t have to be this way. You can make a difference by choosing to cut meat, dairy, and eggs out of your diet.
