On December 13, 2005 members of Mercy For Animals held a silent vigil against the violent and bloody fur industry outside the Dayton Mall. MFA members displayed signs, banners, and distributed literature describing how every year millions of animals are trapped, drowned, and beaten to death in the wild and gassed, strangled, and electrocuted on fur farms before being made into garments.
Two caged fur-wearing activists illustrated the cruel conditions endured by animals on fur farms. Another MFA member wore a "body screen TV" which aired graphic footage depicting animal cruelty in the fur industry. Television news coverage of the event reached thousands of Dayton residents with the message that there is nothing fashionable about animal cruelty.
