According to a recent interview with The Cut, singer Ellie
Goulding is ready
to go vegan!
Ellie says she’s been vegetarian for six years and wants to
make 2018 the year she finally goes fully vegan. She says that once she learned
where meat came from, she found the concept hard to live with.
When asked how eating plant-based had affected her workouts,
the singer and marathon runner said, “In being vegetarian, I realized I could
be an athlete and not need meat for the protein.
Plenty of plant-based foods are packed with protein,
including tofu, lentils, beans, seeds, nuts, and grains. In fact, there
are 21 grams of
protein per 100 grams of black beans but only 14 grams of protein in
the same amount of beef.
Ellie says you don’t need meat to survive, and she’s right. Study
after study shows that a plant-based diet may not only reduce
your risk of heart disease and certain forms of cancer but improve
longevity and lower your chance of obesity, diabetes, and stroke.
But eating a plant-based diet isn’t just good for your
health; it also spares countless animals a lifetime of misery at factory farms.
Pigs, cows, and chickens are treated like unfeeling objects,
and their short lives are marked by unimaginable cruelties: intensive
confinement, agonizing mutilations, and violent deaths.
