Phoenix, Speciesism: The Movie Film ScreeningThursday, July 31, 2014

Don’t miss the Phoenix premiere of Speciesism: The Movie. This documentary takes viewers on a sometimes funny, sometimes frightening adventure across the country to expose the darkest secrets of modern factory farms. It also asks the hard questions about our relationship to nonhuman animals and why so many people believe we are superior. You’ll never look at animals, especially humans, the same way again.

Director Mark Devries will be at the screening to hold a Q&A with the audience afterwards.

Tickets can be purchased here.

Phoenix, Leafleting at First Friday Art WalkFriday, August 1, 2014

The average vegetarian spares about 31 farmed animals each year (not to mention many more wild fish and shellfish), adding up to hundreds in a lifetime. Research has shown leafleting to be very effective at inspiring people to go vegetarian or to reduce their consumption of animal products. By educating the public about factory farming and veg eating, you can personally spare thousands of animals from a lifetime of misery.

If this is your first time leafleting, don’t worry! You can leaflet right next to one of the more experienced leafleters, who will guide you through the process and help make it fun and effective. Stay for as long or as short a time as you like. Look for Joe Hernandez, who will be wearing a Mercy For Animals messenger bag.

For more information on this event, please email Joe Hernandez, Phoenix volunteer coordinator, or call 623-399-5292. An RSVP is not required, but it will help us determine the correct number of leaflets to bring. We will also notify you if we have to cancel the event due to bad weather.

Where: Southwest corner of Roosevelt and Fifth streets under the light post, Phoenix, AZ
When: Friday, August 1, 2014 at 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
