About Mercy
Mercy was only a few weeks old when a brave MFA investigator saved him. Sick and clinging to life, Mercy had suffered heart-wrenching cruelty. Torn away from his mother shortly after birth, he was moved to a facility where workers bludgeoned calves to death with pickaxes and hammers. It often took five or six blows to kill a calf. Many calves were severely beaten and thrown into “dead piles” while still alive.
After our undercover investigator rescued Mercy, the feeble and malnourished calf needed around-the-clock veterinary care. Thankfully, he pulled through, and today Mercy lives at an animal sanctuary where he grazes on sweet green grass, feels the morning sun on his face, and frolics with friends—including other calves rescued by MFA. Now he is content and will live out his life in comfort and care.
Because of the hard work and perseverance of MFA’s legal team, Mercy’s abusers were convicted of animal cruelty and his story made headlines around the world. But so many animals like Mercy still suffer at factory farms. Thanks to the generosity of Friends of Mercy, we are bringing an end once thought impossible to the misery and violence they endure.
