Message Text: Dear Decision-Makers, I am writing to encourage you to help our children get the healthy food options they need by passing the House version of the Improving Nutrition for America’s Children Act, H.R. 5504, and rejecting the Senate's version of this bill. Obesity, diabetes and other serious, but preventable, diet-related illnesses continue to plague our nation. To combat the growing health care crisis in our country, the House must pass H.R. 5504, the Improving Nutrition for America's Children Act of 2010, in order to provide more children with access to the healthy foods they need. Unlike the Senate's bill, H.R. 5504 includes an innovative program that would give more children access to healthier, plant-based foods. It also provides more funding for farm-to-school programs and nutrition education and wellness promotion activities. Additionally, H.R. 5504 would provide children from low-income households with greater access to nutritious meals beyond regular school hours.
