Kylie Jenner Is Trying a Vegan Diet. Here Are 11 Things She Needs to Know.

According to People, Kylie Jenner announced on her Snapchat that she’s “trying this whole vegan thing.”

Kylie’s snaps show her homemade plant-based meals, which include vegan tacos, pizza, and nachos. She admitted that her diet had been pretty poor, as she regularly ate burgers, bacon, and cinnamon roll waffles.

Now that Kylie is exploring the fabulous world of veganism, here are 11 things she should know.

1. You’re fighting climate change.

Factory farming is terrible for the planet. In fact, animal agriculture produces more greenhouse gases than all global transportation combined, making eating vegan one of the best ways to protect the planet.

2. You’re going to save a sh*t ton of water.

Meat and dairy production are incredibly water intensive. In fact, animal agriculture uses a whopping 56 percent of water in the United States. Mother Jones reports that it takes 30 gallons of water to make one glass of milk and a staggering 109 gallons of water to make one stick of butter.

3. You could live longer.

Researchers at the Mayo Clinic found that compared to shorter-term vegetarians, people on a vegetarian diet for more than 17 years enjoyed an increase in life expectancy of 3.6 years. Imagine all you could do with those extra years!

4. You’re going to look and feel incredible.

Many people say that since going vegan they have better complexions, more energy, and better sleep. Some even lose unwanted pounds!

5. You’re going to be healthy AF.

Study after study has shown that a plant-based diet is beneficial to your health. Meat has been linked to heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and even cancer. In fact, the World Health Organization reported that processed meats are just as hazardous to your health as cigarettes. Think about it.

6. You’re standing up for workers’ rights.

From slave labor to sexual abuse, workers at factory farms are often horribly exploited. They’re subjected to countless workplace hazards, including injuries, respiratory illness, PTSD, and exposure to antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

7. You’re fighting world hunger.

There are nearly a billion starving people on the planet. It takes 16 pounds of grain to produce just one pound of beef. Do the math.

8. Your taste buds are going to love it.

From nachos and black bean burgers to pizza, vegan foods are truly delicious. Nearly every city in the U.S. has incredible restaurants with plant-based options. Find veg restaurants near you by checking out VegGuide.org.

9. You’re going to make so many new friends!

From celebrities like Woody Harrelson and Miley Cyrus to everyday folks, vegans are some of the kindest people on the planet. Join a meetup, host a vegan potluck, or go to a veg fest and make some new friends!

10. You can save a few bucks.

Maybe Kylie doesn’t need to worry about this, but for the rest of us, eating vegan can save a few bucks. Think about it: Some of the most affordable foods are rice, beans, legumes, pasta, and all kinds of fruits and veggies.

11. You’re sparing animals.

From throwing baby chicks into macerators to tearing baby cows from their mothers, factory farming puts profits ahead of animals. The saddest part is that much of the abuse at these cruel farms is legal. Fortunately, by going vegan you can withdraw your support from this industry and choose compassion.
