Miyoko's Kitchen announced this week that it had received $6 million in funding from several investors.
The plant-based cheese and butter company recently launched its cultured VeganButter at Trader Joe’s stores nationwide. Now, thanks to this major investment, the company plans to expand even further.

The proceeds from the financing will be used to complete a new manufacturing facility in Petaluma, CA — which will provide capacity that is 30x the current level — as well as to support the significant growth expected in the coming years.
Miyoko’s Kitchen’s products are unique in the world of plant-based cheese because these blends of nuts are aged and cultured as dairy cheese is. Any foodie, vegan or not, can truly enjoy them.
“Miyoko's passion for her brand and its mission is admirable and inspiring, and we look forward to building a bright future together,” states Sarah Woelfel, co-founder of JMK Consumer Growth Partners, one of the investors.
This is wonderful news for cows who suffer miserably on dairy factory farms.
On dairy farms, cows are roughly handled, forcibly inseminated, and kept in terrible conditions. Their calves are torn away from them shortly after birth. Male calves are killed for veal, while females are raised to produce more milk. This cycle of abuse continues for years until a cow is considered “spent” and sent to slaughter.
