On October 22, 2004 members of Mercy For Animals held a silent protest against animal abuse in the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus outside Cleveland’s Gund Arena. Activists distributed information detailing animal cruelty under the big top and aired graphic undercover footage on an electronic "body screen" TV depicting the violent training endured by animals enslaved in the circus. Television news coverage of the event reached thousands of Cleveland residents with the message that Ringling tortures animals.
