Sopranos Star Edie Falco Loves Animals, So Naturally She Went Vegan

Known for her role as Carmela Soprano on the hit HBO series The Sopranos, Edie Falco recently discussed her switch to a vegan diet in an interview with Parade.

In the interview, Falco said that after having been vegetarian for 16 years, she had decided to go vegan and ditch all animal products. She explained how her activism with PETA led her to veganism:
That’s one reason I became vegan. It’s hard to justify working for animal rights when you eat animal-based foods. Animals are mistreated in ways I had not imagined. I believe this is at the base of everything bad in society—you can bring it back to cruelty to animals. If you don’t have respect for life of any kind, it will manifest in more obvious ways.
Over the past few months, several celebrities have announced that they’re trying a vegan diet, including Orange Is the New Black star Danielle BrooksKylie JennerNe-Yo, and Stephen Colbert.

A vegan diet is a great way to protect your health, the environment, and of course, farmed animals.

Animals at factory farms are treated as mere objects, and their short lives are filled with violence and pain. Cows, pigs, and chickens are subjected to a nightmare of confinement, mutilation, torture, and slaughter.

Watch.
