Why vegetarian? Here are just a few of the many reasons:
- Scientists around the world are calling for a global shift to plant-based foods to help feed starving people and to protect the planet from the worst effects of climate change.
- Researchers have confirmed a direct link between animal-based foods and serious, life-threatening diseases like diabetes, heart disease, obesity and some forms of cancer. Similar research has shown that plant-based foods protect against, and can even reverse, these deadly diseases.
- Pigs, cows, and chickens experience pain, suffering and fear, as well as joy, love and pleasure, just like the dogs and cats we all know and cherish. Yet, to produce burgers, nuggets, omelets and hot dogs, billions of farmed animals are subjected to extreme confinement, painful mutilations, violent handling and a merciless slaughter.
