What We Do

We change the world for animals.

Our Mission

Mercy For Animals exists to end one of the greatest causes of suffering on the planet: the exploitation of animals for food, in particular, industrial animal agriculture, aquaculture, and fishing.

These forms of food production cause egregious animal suffering and have detrimental effects on the planet and people.

Mercy For Animals is dedicated to eradicating this cruel food system and replacing it with one that is not just kind to animals but essential for the future of our planet and all who share it.

Our Programs

We are on the front lines fighting to protect farmed animals. From factory farms to corporate boardrooms, courts of justice to courts of public opinion, Mercy For Animals is there to speak up against cruelty and to shift the food industry toward plant- and cell-based products. Undercover Investigations

Shrouded in secrecy, U.S. industrial farms raise and kill over nine billion land animals a year. But what are they trying to hide? Mercy For Animals undercover investigations of factory farms and slaughterhouses expose the brutal reality.

Government Affairs and Public Policy

Mercy For Animals works globally with policymakers to ban cruel factory farming practices and make plant-based foods more accessible by advancing protective laws and policies and defending against harmful ones.

Corporate Engagement

Large corporations have the power to change the lives of billions of animals with a single policy reform. Our corporate engagement team works with businesses large and small to help them adopt meaningful animal welfare reforms while inspiring them to see animals as much more than mere commodities.

Organizing

To create a better world for animals, we need a well-informed, empowered, and sustainable movement. We work to build the capacity, scale, and breadth of the animal protection movement by bringing in more advocates, coaching emerging volunteer leaders, collaborating with other movements, and researching how to make Mercy For Animals—and all animal advocates—more effective.

Public Engagement

Our public engagement team inspires news stories in mainstream media, involves influential celebrities, produces hard-hitting videos, and reaches millions through social media to build support and advance Mercy For Animals’ mission.
